Mentors & Moms of Albany County

Mentors & Moms (M&M) provides both a volunteer mentor and monthly educational/social programming to adolescent pregnant/parenting girls in Albany County. Adolescent mothers who lack a relationship with a competent, caring woman benefit from having a volunteer mentor.  Through collaboration with Community Maternity Services and other community agencies, CCE provides the Mentors & Moms (M&M) program to young mothers in the foster care system, connecting them with a volunteer mentor and conducting monthly gatherings to provide educational, social and peer program support. Thanks to this program, 90% of parents demonstrated an increase in knowledge and skills in infant care and development and parent-child bonding, maintained a stable living environment, and  were engaged in school, work or vocational programs.  Furthermore, 90% of infants received continuous health care throughout the first year and attained appropriate growth milestones.
